Getting A Course Approved For COGS Elective Credit
Individual Course Approval Process
Courses approved for the Cognitive Science major are reviewed by our area specialists and director change each term and are determined to have sufficient cognitive science content to be included in our approved course list. "Topical" and "New"courses ( topical listed as 2500, 3500, 4500, 2541, 3541; and new listed as 2559, 3559, 4559) are often included in our approved lists, but only for specific topics or sections that directly relate to COGS and have a great deal of COGS content.
If you are taking a course you think should count for your Cognitive Science elective credit---You must submit the course syllabi along with the form found here. Please be aware we will not approve courses to fulfill core course requirements--only elective credit for the major. As well, please check the list below to make sure you are not submitting a course that has already been denied when previously submitted.
Please note that STAT classes are not considered to be viable substitutes for core credit in computer science or to fulfill the COGS math requirement.

ANTH 2440-Language and Cinema
EDHS 4020-Clinical Phonetics
