Graduation for Spring 2025

General Information

The Cognitive Science Graduation Ceremony for Spring 2025 will be on the North Rotunda Steps Saturday, May 17th from 11:30am-1pm. In the event that on the day of the ceremony the University decides to follow its inclement or severe weather plan, the ceremony will take place in the Aquatic and Fitness Center from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.

We ask that all eligible graduates RSVP in order to attend the Program Graduation Ceremony. The survey can be accessed through the announcement email that all graduates should have received, or here. Even if you do not plan on attending, we ask that you still complete the survey and indicate your intention to not attend.

Eligibility

The Cognitive Science Graduation Ceremony is open to all those of our majors who are eligible to participate in University's graduation ceremony. Per the College of Arts and Sciences:

The University conducts a graduation ceremony each May to recognize and honor those students who have completed all degree requirements during the previous academic year.

Students who graduate at the end of the summer or fall semesters are invited to fully participate in the May ceremony the year following their graduation, at which time their names will appear in the program. Students who have an expected graduation term of August posted in SIS by April 30 are eligible to participate in a limited fashion in the May ceremony prior to their graduation. August graduates can receive tickets and regalia, and can participate in the Final Exercises ceremony on the Lawn; however, their names will not appear in the graduation program, and eligibility to participate in departmental ceremonies is determined by each department. See the Major Events webpage for more information.

Guests

Graduates may bring up to six (6) guests with them to the Cognitive Science Graduation Ceremony.

Photography

Photo Specialties of North Carolina will be our official photographer. The photographers will take pictures of every graduate as they receive their diploma. Within 3 days of graduation, each graduate will be contacted at their UVA email address with a link to a digital proof of their picture. Graduates also receive a free color proof by mail and information about ordering within 7 days of graduation. Proofs are free for graduates to keep. There is no obligation for students to purchase anything. Questions regarding photo options and ordering information may be directed to:
